My Road to Medicine

Just another quick update

Well, this week has been much better so far. I just got back from a presentation on MedSchool applications put on by Prep101, personally I didn't get much out of it. I have already done a lot of research into the applications so I didn't learn anything new.
One thing I am not looking forward to is the MCAT though which I will be writing this summer, not so much the Biological or Physical sections but the Verbal and Writing sections. Those I will definitely have to work on a lot this summer.
I am still working on my BC Cancer Agency application and I will keep it updated to let you know when I get anything new on that.

Its been a bit of a frantic week, so sorry I didn't get to post on Sunday which will probably be one of my main days of blogging and same with Thursday.
Yeah this week was full of labs, notes and planning for some events (I am a Peer Helper at the University of Guelph at the Wellness Center), so I have been out from 8 every morning till almost 9 or 10 at night. However some good has come out of the hectic-ness this week. I got a new house for next year, its close to campus and perfect for my research project next year, so some stress has been lifted from my shoulders.
Today though I have been working on an application to work in a lab at the BC Cancer Research Center again this summer. It was such an amazing experience last year that I really want to do it again, if I can recommend this to anyone who wants to go into research or medicine, it is a great experience no matter what, and a great way to network which is very important. Take advantage of all of the resources you have and talk to everyone cause you never know when someone will have a great opportunity for you.

First Blog

So this is my first blog. I guess I should introduce the reason I made this blog, this blog is to document the way in which I make it into medical school and the things I am doing to help me to achieve my goals. As well I want to help anyone out who has any questions about how I am getting into the things I am doing, and finally to give people better ideas on what they can do to help themselves get into their medical school they want to.
So I guess some background on who I am. I am a third year Molecular Biology and Genetics student at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. I know its a bit late to document my "entire" road to medicine since I have already done many of the things to help me on my way. But I have really been wanting to do this for a long time so here it is.
I am really hoping to get into the UBC medical school program, since that's where I am from and love Vancouver and the school. So I guess I am jumping into the deep end on this blog, I hope you all like it.
